La Montaña Lushan, situada en el noroeste de la provincia de Jiangxi, cubre una área de unos 302 kilómetros cuadrados.
A fines del siglo IV, el eminente bonzo Huiyan creó allí la Secta de Tierra Pura. Como consecuencia, la Montaña Lushan pasó a ser el centro de la religión budista en el sur de China. En el siglo V, el taoísta Lu Xiujing fundó en la Montaña Lushan la Secta del Cielo Austral del taoísmo y como resultado se convirtió en el centro taoísta del sur de China en aquella época.
La Academia de Estudios "Cueva de Ciervo Blanco", fundada en el año 940, es una de las primeras instituciones de enseñanza superior de China. Sus actividades académicas siguieron hasta mediados del siglo XIX.
Los paisajes de la Montaña Lushan han sido siempre muy famosos. Tiene cerca de 4,000 fragmentos de poemas, en 400 inscripciones en los acantilados, así como muchos trabajos de pintura y caligrafía, junto a más de 500 figuras de personajes que han vivido a lo largo de nuestra historia. Por esta razón, a la Montaña Lushan se le conoce como “el reino de la prosa” y “la montaña de la poesía”.

Lushan Mountain
Lushan Mountain, located northwest of Jiangxi Province, covers an area of about 302 square kilometers.
At the end of the fourth century, Huiyan, the eminent bonzo created the Pure Land Sect. As a result, the Lushan Mountain became the center of the Buddhist religion in southern China. In the fifth century, the Taoist Lu Xiujing founded in the Lushan Mountain the Southern Sky Sect of Taoism and as a result became the Taoist center in southern China at the time.
The Studies Academy "White Deer Cave", founded in 940, is one of the first institutions of higher education in China. Its academic activities continued until the mid-nineteenth century.
The Lushan Mountain landscapes have always been very famous. For this reason, the Lushan Mountain is known as "the kingdom of prose" and "poetry of the mountain".
